The groundbreaking event took place online, with the main venue located in Ho Chi Minh City for the Ring Road 3 project. This was connected to sites in Ba Ria - Vung Tau for the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and in Dak Lak for the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway.
At the ceremony held at the Dak Lak venue, attendees included Bui Van Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee and member of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee, General Secretary and Chairman of the National Assembly Office; Nguyen Van Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport. Also present were leaders from Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces, representatives from central ministries and agencies, local departments, contractors, and residents of the local community.
The Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project spans 117,5 kilometers in total length. The total investment for the project is VND 21.935 trillion, funded by both central and local government budgets. The project aims to complete several high-traffic sections by 2025, with full operation expected by 2027.
This project is crucial for revitalizing and actively promoting the potential and strengths of both provinces and the surrounding region. It serves as a strategic route that connects the forest to the sea, linking the Central Highlands with the South-Central Coast, and improving connections along the East-West transport corridor.
The Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project aims to create a horizontal axis between the Central Highlands and the South-Central Coast. It will develop vertical routes to enhance the effectiveness of ongoing investments and facilitate connections between economic centers and seaports, addressing transportation needs. This project is expected to create new opportunities and stimulate development in both the Central Highlands and South-Central Coast regions. Additionally, it will contribute to national defense and security, improve the competitiveness of the economy, and promote cultural and social development.
