On June 3rd, at Luong Dinh Welcome Pavilion, The Hue City People's Committee organized a cycling event to celebrate World Bicycle Day and to collect donated bicycles for the Hue Smart Bike Project. This event was part of the 2023 Bicycle Week, which is included in the pilot project for developing a public bike-sharing system in Hue City, in collaboration with the German International Cooperation Organization (GIZ).
The event was attended by Mr Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr Hoang Hai Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr Phan Thien Dinh, Secretary of Hue City Party Committee, along with leaders from relevant departments and agencies.
During his speech at the ceremony, the Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Truong Dinh Hanh emphasized: “Bicycle is a simple and convenient mode of transportation that supports sustainable development. Riding a bicycle not only improves health but also enhances creative thinking and helps protect the environment”.
Understanding the importance of the program and its alignment with the company's sustainable development strategy, Dat Phuong Group has donated 60 bicycles to the city as part of the Hue Smart Bike Project. These bicycles will be used in the second pilot phase of the public bike-sharing system in Hue, providing residents with an economical and convenient means of travel between public locations and throughout the city.
This event aims to promote the bicycle riding movement among all residents of Hue, encouraging cycling as a means to benefit both the environment and public health. It advocates for bicycles as the ideal means of transport within the framework of green traffic initiatives and sustainable development in the city.
