This expressway is one of the key projects undertaken by Dat Phuong Group and is regarded as one of the most complex and challenging initiatives. It encountered numerous difficulties, including extreme heat, heavy rain, and tight deadlines. Construction took place during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, which complicated the situation further due to social distancing measures that limited the number of workers on-site. Additionally, supply chain disruptions and a shortage of borrowed materials for embankment fill caused construction to halt for four to six months.
The project also faced challenges due to its complex terrain and harsh weather conditions, including intense heat waves and several natural disasters. The area experienced an unusually early and prolonged rainy season, which significantly impacted on the construction schedule.
Dat Phuong played a vital role as a member of the contractor consortium for Package XL01. This package involved the construction of the section from Km 134+000 to Km 154+000, the Vinh Hao interchange, and the connecting road to National Highway 1. The expressway was highly praised by both the public and experts, who described it as “the most beautiful and inspiring road".
This remarkable achievement was made possible thanks to Dat Phuong’s dedicated and responsible approach, which enabled the group to overcome all obstacles with the guiding motto: "If we’ve made an effort, we strive even harder; if we’ve tried, we try more; if we’re determined, we push our determination even further. We focus on key tasks to efficiently allocate resources and time to achieve our goals”.
Once operational, the North-South Expressway will gradually complete the infrastructure system, meet transportation needs, and connect major economic and political centers. This includes linking the three key economic regions and vital industrial zones, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of the areas it passes through.
